How to Build a Website

Figure out what you want your website to be about. You'll need to decide on the overall theme of the website and what it will entail. Completely dissect your idea and make sure that it is entirely feasible. If this is your first website, try to keep it basic.
Pick a domain name. Go to Networksolutions.com and search until you find a domain name to your liking. The domain name you select should be related to your idea and overall theme of the website you want to build. Take your time in figuring out your domain name, as it will have a wide ranging impact on the future of your website. You can see if the domain name is available by entering into the box on the main page of Networksolutions.com. If it's available, you can purchase it right there. There is an annual fee to own a domain name. If it's not available, select another name.
Find a web host for your domain name. The message boards at Webhostingtalk.com are a good place to look for the right web host for you. Look for a history of customer satisfaction and a performance guarantee when searching for a web host. Godaddy.com is a popular, reputable host with affordable packages. Compare prices and packages of several companies and purchase the web hosting plan that is right for you.
Hire someone to design your website. A good place to find a freelance website designer is on Elance.com. You can post your job with the specifications that you require, and freelance web designers will make bids on your project. Once you find the right freelance web designer, be sure you explain everything you want included on your website. As the designer is building your website, have her send you progress reports and screen shots so that you can make sure the website is on the right track.

Enter the Web address for the website you wish to find the host for in the search box. Include the 'www' prefix on the website address. You can include the 'http://' part of the address, but it's not usually necessary.
Click 'Search' and wait for the search tool to find and return the correct Web host for the site.
Read the details for the Web hosting company in the search results pane. This usually includes a link to the Web host's own website so that you can contact the company directly. Or, copy and note down the information for future reference.

How to Build a Preschool Website (9 Steps)

Purchase a domain name and web hosting for your preschool website. When choosing a domain you can use the .org domain extension instead of .com since your school is an organization and not a commercial entity. However, the extension choice is completely up to you.
Try to incorporate the word 'preschool' into your domain name to help your website get higher search engine rankings. For example, you can useKidsrkidspreschool.org instead of kidsrkids.com. This is referred to as part of the 'Search Engine Optimization' (SEO) process.
Log into the control panel of your web hosting account to begin creating your preschool pages.
Create an 'About Us' page that gives the history of the preschool. You can advise the parent how long the preschool has been around, the preschool motto, curriculum, teaching philosophy, director's name and qualifications, staff qualifications, student-teacher ratio, and any honors or awards the preschool has received.
Create a 'Tuition' page that tells the parents how much it costs to send her child to your preschool. Indicate whether or not tuition payments are due weekly, biweekly, monthly, or annually.
Create an 'Enrollment' page that tells the parent how to go about enrolling her child in your preschool. Let her know what immunization shots her child must have before being accepted for enrollment, the age requirements for the child, the length of the preschool terms, and any other documentation that is needed such as a birth certificate and social security card.
Place an 'Application' page on the website that instructs the parent how to apply for enrollment. For example, she can walk in and apply or click on a website link that has a downloadable enrollment application. Let her know the deadline for an application to be submitted.
Create a 'Materials' page that advised the parent what materials she should buy for the child if she plans to enroll him in your preschool. For example, paper towels, wet wipes, beach towels, sleeping mats, crayons, and paper.
Create a 'Contact Us' page that includes the telephone and fax numbers for the preschool as well as the address and school hours.

How to Start Your Own Fantasy Website

Build your website using pen and paper. Think about what pages you will want your fantasy website to have, including a message board, if you like. Draw a rectangle for the home page (where visitors first arrive) and draw subsequent rectangles to represent the other pages, such as 'about us' or 'contact us' or 'links.'
Design your primary navigation method. Will your visitors get from the home page to the other pages just by clicking on text links, or will you use images? Figure out the two basic states for these images: what they look like when they're just sitting there (the off state) and what they look like when someone puts their mouse cursor over them (the over state). Does it change?
Draw out on pen and paper how each page will look. What text do you plan to have on each page, and where will it be? Left aligned? Centered? Will you use headers and images? What about the background?

How to Create a Turnkey Web Site

Choose a market niche for your turnkey site. Websites that focus on niches are popular and can generate a significant revenue have the greatest chance of being sold. Think of industries that have a large advertising network. For example, a website on dog care serves a large audience and also has a wide range of companies who would want to advertise dog care products. In contrast, a site about raising ants will have a much narrower audience and less appeal to advertisers and entrepreneurs.
Sign up for budget web hosting. When attempting to create a turnkey website, minimizing your overhead costs will help you realize the greatest profit when selling the site. You also want a host that is able to transfer ownership of the domain and hosting account for free. Examples of budget webhosts that can do this include Fat Cow and Blue Host (see Resources).
Build the turnkey site. If building the site from a blank page, use a visual site editor (e.g. Dreamweaver) or a standard text editor if you are comfortable with your level of HTML expertise. Alternatively, purchase a professional website template. Templates are popular among those who create turnkey websites because they minimize the time it takes to get the site up and running. Avoid free website template sites as they often offer low-quality templates that are not always standards-compliant. Dreamtemplate is an example of a professional template provider (see Resources).
Propagate your site with keyword-targeted, original content. Include a minimum of five to 10 pages for the site. Think about the keywords that will attract advertisers. Stay focused on your turnkey website's overall theme. For example, a dog care site may have web pages on dog breeds; dog grooming tips; dog grooming product reviews; and dog feeding and nutrition guides. The more pages you include with the turnkey site, the higher your chance of selling the site quickly.
Insert advertising and affiliate programs. Popular examples include Google AdSense, Commission Junction and Amazon Associates. You may insert your own code, which the purchaser will then replace with his or her own affiliate codes. Alternatively, simply insert 'Ad Here' or similar text to notify the purchaser of the locations of ad spots. However, successful turnkey websites will come with affiliate codes pre-installed and income reports to show potential buyers of the site's income potential.
Upload the website to the web host you chose in Step 2 using your FTP software. Enter your server name and password into the FTP software to connect with the server. If you do not know this information, it may be found in the registration material sent to you by the host when you originally registered. Once connected, upload the templates and pages you've created. Your turnkey site is now online.
List the turnkey site you've created for sale. You may wish to post it for free on an online classified ads website such as Craigslist. Alternatively, list the site for sale on an online marketplace specializing in turnkey website sales. One of the most popular and well-known sites that do this is the Sitepoint Marketplace (see Resources).

How to Make a Free Membership Website

Download the .zip file containing the latest version of the Joomla content management system to your hard drive. Extract the zip file to a place on your hard drive that is easily accessible by your favorite FTP client.
Start your FTP client and connect it to the root directory of your website. Once logged in, transfer the Joomla files to the root directory of your website. Keep in mind that it will likely take a few minutes to transfer all these files. Once all the directories and files have transferred, you are ready to begin the installation of your Joomla website.
Open a browser and navigate to your website's URL followed by '/installation' (www.yourwebsite.com/installation). This should bring up the first page of the Joomla installer and ask you which language you would like to set for your installation. Select the appropriate language and click 'Next.'
Ensure that your web hosting meets the system requirements by confirming that the pre-installation checklist has been met satisfactorily. Click 'Next.'
Review and agree to the GN General Public License (GNU GPL ). Click 'Next.'
Supply your database configuration information, including host name, user name, password and database name. If you have not created these items, do so now via your host's MySQL administration panel. Keep in mind that often times web hosts add prefixes to both user names and database names. For example, if you create a database named 'joomla' on a fake web host named 'acme,' the web host will likely apply a prefix such as 'acme_joomla' to the database name. Also, keep in mind that after you create the user, you will need to assign that user full privileges to the database you just created. Once these fields are filled out appropriately, click 'Next.'
Select the appropriate FTP options that will meet your needs and click 'Next.'
Give your website a name and enter pertinent information. Based upon your level of experience, you can install the sample data or not. For beginners, sample data is useful to get the feel of the Joomla system. To install the sample data, select the radio button and click 'Install Sample Data.' Once the sample data is installed, click 'Next.'
Remove the installation directory. This is a security feature of Joomla and you will not be able to proceed until the installation directory has been removed.
Log in to the administration end of your new website by navigating to your website's URL followed by '/administrator' (www.yourwebsite.com/administrator). Once logged in, navigate to Site > Global Configuration > System and select 'Yes' under the subheading 'User Settings.'
Navigate to Extensions > Module Manager and select the 'Login Form' hotlink from the list of modules. Ensure that the module is enabled, possesses the 'Public' access level and is enabled on the pages you require.

Create a database. Note down the input fields on your existing web form. For example, if your form contains fields for 'Name,' 'Address,' 'Email' and 'Phone Number,' create these corresponding fields in your database.
Create a form handling page. This will contain scripts that will connect the web form to your database and store the entered information. You will need to use programming languages such as ASP or PHP along with SQL to create a script to have the data stored in your database.
Edit your web form. Using an HTML editor such as MS Frontpage or Dreamweaver, change your '
' tag to submit to your form handling page. For example, if your form handling page is named 'formhandler.php,' the '
