How to Set Up a Free Proxy (6 Steps)

Sign up for server space. If you already have a web server, you can skip this step. If you do not, you can sign up for either a free hosting account for limited bandwidth or a paid host for higher or unlimited bandwidth. Make sure you have FTP access to your hosting account so you can upload files to the server and that your server can run PHP. Either way, take note of your FTP user name and password before moving on.
Install an FTP program on your computer. Filezilla is the most popular free FTP program. It can be downloaded from Sourceforge.net. Follow the installation instructions for your computer. Make sure to download the right version for a Mac, Windows, or Linux computer.
Download PHProxy for free from Sourceforge. PHProxy is a free proxy server software package based in the PHP programming language. It is easy to install on any web server. Download the free installation package onto your desktop. You can test the software at phproxy.org.
Log in to your hosting account using Filezilla and navigate to your public_html directory. The public_html directory is where web pages are hosted on your server space. Choose one of your hosted domain folders and create a sub directory called '/proxy.' Doing so will install the program to yoursitename.com/proxy (replace yoursitename with your website's name).
Upload the entire PHProxy package into the /proxy folder on your server. Be sure to unzip the package and upload every file. Once the files are uploaded, use Filezilla to set the file permissions to 666, which will allow you to read the file from a web browser.
Go to yoursitename.com/proxy and you can use your proxy from any computer with Internet access. If you are concerned about other people using your proxy, you can change the directory name from /proxy.

How to Change Hosting Services Without Losing Email Information

Start a new account with the web hosting service of your choice, but do not close your account with your current host. Otherwise, you risk permanently losing your website and email information.
Make a note of every email account hosted on your website. Write down each email address–and password if you want to keep them the same–or type them in a file and save the file. Keep this information private so that no one can access your email accounts without your permission.
Back up your website. Access the backup tool on your user panel with your current hosting service and select the options necessary to do a complete site backup, rather than any kind of partial backup. Save the resulting file on your computer.
Access the backup tool on your user panel with your new hosting service. Select the option to upload a complete site backup. Find your site backup, upload it and select the option to complete the backup upload process.
Create all the same email accounts you have on your current server on your new server. Use the passwords you saved in step 1 if you wish to keep them the same, or make up new passwords if you prefer. Be sure to use passwords that you will remember but that would be difficult for someone else to guess.
Close your account with your current hosting service.

How to Send Videos Online (4 Steps)

Go to a website that hosts videos. The site can be like YouTube where it will compress and stream a video (usually poor quality) or a site like File Front that hosts the video for public download (and keeps the same quality as it was recorded in).
Register for the website. You will need to provide some personal information, as well as choose a username and password. If you want more space allowed for your videos or you want higher quality videos shown, you may have to register for a type of premium account where you will have to pay a monthly or yearly fee. This all depends on the hosting site you register for, if it even offers a premium account.
Start uploading. Upload any videos you have on your computer that you want to share with people. The larger the video file, the longer it will take to upload.
Send out the video. Streaming hosts like YouTube will allow you to send the link to people so they can view it on YouTube, or you can embed the video on your own Web page or blog and send that link; they cannot save this video. Downloading sites like File Front will allow you to send the link to the download page for the video, and the receiver will be able to save the video file on their computer.
