How to Set Up Filezilla for Joomla!

Double-click on the FileZilla icon or select it from the start menu. FileZilla will start and display the local hard disk directory structure on the left side of the window.
Enter the domain name of your website or the IP address in the 'Host' field. Do not include the 'http://' part of the address, just the domain name. For example, 'mycoolsite.com' is a domain name and '192.168.2.1' is an Internet Protocol address. If your domain name hasn't been assigned yet, use the IP address provided by your hosting company.
Fill in the 'Username' field at the top of the screen with your FTP user name. Use the exact spelling and character case as the FTP user name issued by your hosting service provider.
Enter your FTP password in the 'Password' field at the top of the screen. Use the exact spelling and character case as the password issued by your hosting service provider.
Enter the FTP port number in the 'Port' field if your hosting provider uses a port other than 21. Most users will leave this field blank as 21 is the default port. Only enter a port number if your hosting provider uses a port other than 21.
Click on the 'Edit' menu, then click on 'Settings.' Select 'File Types' under 'Transfers' on the left side of the settings window. Click the 'Binary' radio button on the right side at the top of the window. This setting ensures that binary files such as archives and backup files transfer properly. If such files are accidentally treated as ASCII files, they may become corrupted during transfer. Having this set correctly is especially important for uploading Joomla! installation files, Joomla! extension packages and downloading backup files.
Click on the 'OK' button at the bottom of the settings window to save the settings. Click the 'Quick Connect' button to the right of the host, username, password and port fields previously entered. FileZilla will connect to your Joomla! website root directory on the server and display the file structure in the right side of the window.
Click on the 'File' menu, then click on 'Copy Current Connection to the Site Manager.' This saves your settings and allows you to select them the next time you use FileZilla from the Site Manager. Just click 'File' then 'Site Manager' or press 'Ctrl - S.'

How to Create a Safe Website (5 Steps)

Create strong passwords for you website's back end, sometimes called the administration page. This is very important because if a cyber criminal can get access to the back end, then he can pretty much do anything he wants, since anything can be done to your site from its back end. Strong passwords include both upper and lowercase letters and numbers and are at least eight characters long. Many website administrators follow a stricter policy when securing their sites' back ends; they make their passwords at least fifteen characters.
Create strong passwords for any FTP, file transfer protocol, accounts that have access to your web server. Follow the same guidelines as you would for you site's back end, but you must also make sure that, if you have given FTP accounts to others, that they do not make simpler passwords for their own convenience.
Update your server operating system regularly. If you are leasing server space from a web hosting provider, then you will not have to worry about this, since your hosting provider will take care of it for you. However, if you are maintaining your own server, then you should check for security updates at least once every two weeks; consult your operating system's documentation for details.
Follow good security practices on all computers that you use FTP to your server from or log into the back end from. No matter how strong your passwords are, a key logger is going to compromise your site's security. This includes having a strong anti-malware suite, including a firewall, and keeping it up to date. Popular anti-malware suites include McAfee, Norton and Vipre.
Trust your users. If you start receiving feedback complaining that there seem to be random glitches on your site or that it is loading slowly or that your site is sending out a lot of spam, then there is a chance that your site has come under attack. Listening to these warnings can save you a lot of time and trouble.

How to Link Your Domain Name to eBay (5 Steps)

Register a domain name for your eBay store from a reputable domain name registrar such as GoDaddy. For branding purposes and easier memorability, try to register a domain name that matches your eBay user ID. You must register the domain with a registrar that allows domain name forwarding. With domain forwarding, customers will be redirected to your eBay store when they type in your domain.

Log into your registrar's control panel using the user ID and domain name the registrar gave you upon registration.
Find the domain forwarding options in the dashboard for your domain name's control panel. The appearance of your domain's control panel can vary widely depending on the registrar with which you registered. Try to find an option that reads 'DNS settings' or 'Forwarding and Parking.' It may also say something like 'Domain Aliases' or 'Domain Masking.' Click until you get to the screen that asks you to input to what site you'd like your domain to forward.
Enter your eBay profile or eBay store URL in the field provided in the domain forwarding screen. The syntax for this URL is 'http://www.stores.ebay.com/your_store_ID' without quotes. Replace 'your_store_ID' with your unique eBay store ID. If you want your domain to just forward to your eBay profile, type 'http://myworld.ebay.com/your_eBay_ID' without quotes. Replace 'your_eBay_ID' with your unique eBay member name. You can also forward the domain to your current list of items for sale, by copying and pasting the 'Items for sale' link in your member profile.
Save your settings in your domain control panel. Once your domain registrar has processed your request, which can take as little as five minutes or as long as 72 hours, your domain name will now to your eBay account.
