How to Sell Tea Online

Write down a list of ideas for a business name. Look for something that distinguishes you as a tea specialist and distinguishes your business from other tea businesses. A name like 'The Tea Bag' or 'Tea Time' is probably already taken. Make a list of tea-related names and ask friends and family to vote for the best one.
Register your business name with the IRS by visiting the IRS website and filling out an online form. This will give you a tax ID number, which you will need to purchase tea for resale. This number is also required by many wholesalers before they will sell to you at wholesale cost.
Sign up with a web hosting service that provides a shopping cart service and will register a domain name for you. The shopping cart will allow you to take online payments. The domain name (www.yourteabusinessname) will make it easier for people to locate you on the Internet. Avoid using free web hosting because those companies place ads on your business website to pay the cost of giving you free web hosting.
Create an account with one or more tea wholesalers. There are many online. Look for one that will drop ship to your customers, which can save you the cost of keeping inventory and the hassle of shipping the product yourself. You can have more than one wholesaler, so choose as many as you need to acquire the products you want to sell.
Design a marketing strategy to help you stand out in the tea marketplace. This can be as simple as offering a tea knowledge column on your website, tea trivia, articles you write relating to tea, or even special items you design for sale. To compete with other tea marketers, you will need to offer something they don't — a reason for customers to buy from you.
