Choose a name, date and location. These details are important in a race. Make sure the race name conveys the purpose of the race, and plan for a location and date that are accessible to participants.
Plot the running course. It's best to run the 5K course yourself to make sure any obstacles and unpleasant settings are kept to a minimum.
Plan an event budget. Everything, from the racers' numbers to the necessary electrical equipment, will cost money. Make a list of everything you'll need to create a realistic budget.

Publicize the event. Send press releases to local news organizations, create a website and send, post or pass out flyers. Focus on target audiences who will be interested in your charity or issue, and allow enough lead time before the race for participants to register.
On the day of the event, arrive early. Allow yourself time to make sure everything is in place and to snuff out any last-minute problems.

How to Choose an Email Account for a Business


Determine the amount of money that you are willing to spend. There are three basic types of email accounts you can use: free, Internet-based email accounts, accounts provided by Internet service providers, and email accounts purchased through a domain name and hosting company. Internet based accounts, such as Hotmail and Gmail are free and include ample storage space. Email addresses provided by an ISP do not usually cost any additional money because they are included in the cost of your Internet services. You are, however, limited in the number of ISP email accounts you can set up. While the email accounts that you purchase through a domain name and hosting company are not free, you are not limited in the number that you can purchase.
Consider the image that you want to project. While Internet based email addresses are free and ISP email addresses are provided at no additional charge, you cannot personalize the account as much as you can with an account that you purchase from a hosting company. The domain name for Internet based companies and ISP addresses will remain fixed, such as 'hotmail.com,' 'gmail.com' or 'comcast.net,' while if you purchase the account from a hosting company, you can create your own domain name, such as using the name of your business. Purchasing the domain name will project a more professional image of your business because it is customized and does not seem temporary or less than professional, as Internet-based accounts and ISP domains may. Further, some free Internet-based email accounts automatically include advertisements for their products in the body of your email that you cannot delete prior to sending the email, which may reflect negatively on you in the eyes of your customers.
Consider your ability to access the account. All three types can usually be accessed relatively easily, and remotely. The easiest to access are generally the Internet-based email accounts because the only purpose for the site is to provide access to your email. Those purchased from a domain name and hosting site and those provided by your ISP can be accessed by logging into your Internet service account or your domain name or hosting account.
Consider your ability to keep your email account into the future. A free account and an account purchased through a domain name and hosting company can stay with you through the life of a business. If you decide to change your domain name and hosting company, you can still keep the old domain name and email address. If, however, you choose the ISP email account, then you can only keep it as long as you purchase your Internet services though that ISP. This can be problematic if you are no longer satisfied with your Internet services or if you are offered a better deal on the services.

How to Build a Checkout Page (7 Steps)


Allow your customers to add products to their shopping cart without logging in. Anonymous shopping can help reduce the amount of transactions that are abandoned or canceled. In many cases, a shopper does not want to take the time to fill out a profile before they shop. Your checkout page should convert the buyer's details into an account for them instead, after they make a purchase.
Walk users through each step of the checkout process using tabs or guided navigation. For example, your first tab may display a table showing the selected products with an option to edit the cart prior to continuing. The second tab may contain forms for capturing billing and shipping information and entering promotional codes to calculate the final cost. The third tab would then provide a summary of the purchase and contain the 'Complete Purchase' button. Limiting the process to three pages or less will give your users a better experience and increase the chance they will complete the transaction.
Include detailed information in your shopping cart tables or purchase summary. Each item should display a product thumbnail that links to the original product page, a description, product availability and price. The shopping cart should allow the user to modify the quantity without opening a new dialog or page. Make sure your fonts are large and readable, and make use of white space to emphasize each element.
Offer your users a checkbox to use their billing information as the shipping information, so they don't have to enter everything twice. Ask users for the minimum number of details needed to actually process the order. If you want to capture additional information to aid in marketing, build it into the user's account profile page instead and allow users to optionally fill it out later.
Use large type or bold contrast for call-to-action buttons and to highlight totals, making sure the placement of buttons is consistent. For example, if your 'Checkout' button is placed in the lower right of each dialog, page or tab, make sure your 'Complete Purchase' or 'Continue' buttons are in the same location.
Give your customers a fast and clear way of getting help. You can add help links to a sidebar or integrate them into your checkout page dialog, or put your phone number near the top of the page where it is easy to see. Using tooltips is also a good method for guiding users through each form field or step of the process.
Test your checkout page to ensure it captures user data to your database correctly, sends emails to the correct place at appropriate times, and completes the transaction to your chosen payment gateways. Most gateways offer test accounts to help you do this, otherwise you can create a test product that costs $0 and complete the checkout using your personal details. By going through the checkout multiple times, you will be able to better understand the customer's perspective and make any adjustments or improvements needed.
