How to Create a Sub Domain With Network Solutions

Sub domains are created and used to divide websites into different sections on websites. The sub domain is usually descriptive of the place and purpose for which it is named within the main domain. For example, the main Yahoo website has many subsections that feature the website's content, such as Web, Images, Video, Local, Shopping and Search sections to make it easier for visitors and consumers to navigate.
Research names for the sub domain by searching on a major search engine for some popular search terms for your potential sub domain. Using a name that includes a popular search term can serve to drive traffic to your website and boost an online business. Since the domain name is your Internet identity, take into consideration how any names associated with the main domain may affect your online Web presence, regardless of the purpose of the website. If the website is used for business purposes, it is particularly important to be mindful of all domain names.
Obtain or check your hosting account with Network Solutions. If you don't already have an account with Network Solutions, it will be necessary to get one before you can obtain a sub domain through the company.
Log into your Network Solutions Web hosting account. Go to the Account Manager section of the account. Click on Web Hosting/Manage Web Hosting. Click on the Assign New tab. Enter the name you have chosen for your sub domain. Press Select. This will enable you to add the new sub domain to your Network Solutions account. You will now be able to add information to that page and publish it so that it will be live on the Internet as you did for the main domain.
To create the sub domain properly from a different source, it will be necessary to create the sub domain and point it to whatever the other hosting package may be. From the existing hosting package, you will need to set up the redirection from that Web host's settings or through a Javascript redirect.

How to Make a Background on an IMVU Homepage

Locate the URL of the remotely hosted image. This URL may vary depending on whether you have your own website host or you are using a free image hosting service.
Copy the image’s URL.
Log into your IMVU account and navigate to your homepage. While logged into your account, you will have access to the “Edit” mode of your homepage.
Click on the “Background” widget.
Paste the image’s URL into the text box under “Background Image URL.”
Choose if you want the image to be a “Tiled image” or a “Non-scrolling image.” A tiled image will recreate multiple copes of the same picture to fill up the background. A non-scrolling image will place one fixed copy of the image in the center of your homepage.
Click the “Save” button and allow the changes to take effect. You should now see your remotely hosted image used as the background on your IMVU homepage.

How to Remove a Parked Domain (4 Steps)

Upload a website to the domain's hosting account. The parked domain page may disappear as soon as the owner's own information is added to the domain.
Delete the parked domain page on the server. Log in to the domain's hosting account and physically delete the parked page that was provided by the web host. Access the list of files by using an FTP program, such as one provided to you by the web host, or a free one that must be downloaded, such as FileZilla. Navigate to the 'index.html' file, right-click and choose to 'Delete.' This step is often necessary if the server is automatically set to run an HTML page over other extension types. In this case, even uploading a new 'Index' page with a PHP extension will not override the parked page until it has been deleted.
Change the parked domain's settings in the domain control panel. Log in and choose to turn off the domain parking. The action will vary depending on the domain provider. Navigate to a 'Manage Domains' section and click a button to 'Remove Domain Parking' or to 'Activate Domain.'
Choose to forward the domain name to another website and domain. Forwarding or masking will activate the domain instead of placing it in parked mode. Log in to the 'Manage Domains' menu and select the option to 'Forward.' Enter the domain you would like to forward it to and save.

How to Connect a CMS to a Website

Determine where the CMS will be connected on your website. If you have an existing website with content, you may want to connect the CMS to a URL other than the homepage of your website. On the other hand, if your website is new, you may want the CMS connected to the homepage.
Log in to your website hosting service. Activate the hosting control panel and navigate to the application installation section of the control panel.
Install a CMS. From the application installation section, select the CMS you'd like to install. Follow your website hosting service's instructions for installing and configuring the CMS. The website hosting service will likely create a database for your CMS to use and then install the CMS software. Write down any login or administrator information for the database and CMS that you enter during the installation process.
Add a test page or post. Access the administrator login page for your CMS. Add and publish a test page or post according to the instructions for your CMS. If you can't access the administrator page, you may need to reinstall the CMS.
Verify the CMS operation. Log out of the CMS administrator section. Visit your website as a visitor would and navigate to the location where the CMS is connected. Make sure your test page or post appears correctly and that the CMS is working. Make any necessary changes.

Click the 'Transfer' arrows to move files from your computer to the web server side. This software works on Windows systems.
Transfer files to your web server using SmartFTP. SmartFTP is a paid FTP software option but you can start uploading web server files free for 30 days to get the hang of the tool (see Resources.) After logging in with your account details (username and password,) you'll view a series of windows that contain your computer files and web server, and preview windows that show you what you're about to transfer before taking any action.
