How to Host a Jewelry Home Party

Collect the names of people you want to invite; they can be friends, relatives, neighbors and acquaintances or people who have been referred to you as possibly being interested in jewelry.
Send out invitations to the potential guests on your jewelry home party list. Let people know the date, time and place. Include a map if you think people will have trouble finding the location. Be sure to add an RSVP so you know how much food and drink to order. Send out the invitations at least two weeks before the event but three weeks is better. Send a reminder note or email or call about a week before the event.
Order any supplies you need for the party: your jewelry kit, catalogs, business cards and order forms. If your company provides a hostess gift and you are holding the party at someone else's house, order the gift at this time, too.
Buy food and drink a day or so before the event.
On the day of the party, set out the food and refreshments. Arrange the jewelry display and catalogs on tables in the room so people can see them as they mingle.
Encourage guests to eat some food and relax as they arrive. Give them a little time to get acclimated before you start the party.
Start the party with a game---a raffle, for example. This breaks the ice and offers people the chance to win something right away.
Present the hostess with her gift and encourage others to act as hostesses for your next party.
Go over the details of the jewelry display and pass the items around. Answer any questions. Pass out catalogs and order forms.
Collect people's money for their orders.
Follow up the party with a thank-you card to the hostess and the people who attended.
Notify people when their gifts come in, if the company ships all orders to you. Deliver them, if that's part of your business setup. Encourage people again to host a party when you deliver their merchandise.

How to Organize a Craft Show for Fundraising (6 Steps)

Scout out a location and decide on a time. Research churches, community centers and schools. If you are expecting a large turnout, consider renting out a local fairground. The location should be able to hold all the vendors and buyers comfortably without overcrowding. Make sure there is also ample parking. Keep in mind that you might be more successful if you plan your show before a major gift-giving holiday.
Create a vendor application. Ask the vendors to note what items they will be selling. List the fees and how much space the vendors will be able to use. Consider allowing people to sell food to increase the amount of money you will raise. Allow community organizations to attend to let people know about other various events in your area.
Decide on a theme for your fair. If you are planning a more upscale atmosphere, allow only fine arts, such as tasteful photography and paintings. You can also choose a homemade craft fair where vendors must sell original creations such as soap, pottery or candles.
Start talking about your craft fair. Word of mouth spreads, so place an ad in your local newspaper. Provide contact information where vendors can get in touch with you. Approach local craft stores and invite them to participate. Make sure you mention the date and time of the fair, as well as the application and fees.
Advertise. Print and distribute fliers to post in libraries, coffee shops or other stores. If you are educated about website design, create a site with information and directions. Your local television station may also list activities on its site.
Send a letter to the vendors. Confirm the date and time. Instruct vendors where to go when they arrive and remind them of the size of their stand. On the day of the fair, enlist the help of a friend or family member to help direct the vendors and assist them in setting up.

How to Install APC on cPanel

Download the PECL extensions package. APC is one of the extensions included in the package. The latest package can be downloaded from the PECL page of php.net (see Resources). Once downloaded, open the package and locate the php_apc.dll file.
Log into 'WHM cPanel' and navigate to the extensions directory. Note that you will need to have administrative access to add or remove extensions. Having a standard cPanel account that comes with a shared hosting package will not be suitable. You will need to have access to the WHM reseller panel, which typically comes with VPS and dedicated server packages. Adding extensions here will make the extension available to all cPanel accounts on the server.
Upload the php_apc.dll file to the extensions directory. Click 'Add an Extension.' Browse to the location of the file, then select 'Upload.' The APC extension will be added to the server.
Add the extension to the php.ini file. Open the file with a text editor such as Windows Notepad. Scroll down to the section for other extensions and add the following code to the end of the section: extension=php_apc.dll.
Add the extension parameters to the php.ini file. Add the following code to the end of the php.ini file:apc.shm_segments=1
apc.optimization=0
apc.shm_size=128
apc.ttl=7200
apc.user_ttl=7200
apc.num_files_hint=1024
apc.mmap_file_mask=/tmp/apc.XXXXXX
apc.enable_cli=1After the code has been added, click “File” then click “Save.” Use the cPanel file manager to upload the revised php.ini file to the root directory of the server.
Upload the apc.php file to the server. Refer back to the PECL extensions package to locate the apc.php file. Use the cPanel file manager to upload the file to the root directory of your server.
Open the apc.php file in your browser. Navigate to 'yourname.com/apc.php' (replacing “yourname.com” with your Internet domain). This will open the Alternative PHP Cache manager for your server.

How to Set Up a Free Proxy (6 Steps)

Sign up for server space. If you already have a web server, you can skip this step. If you do not, you can sign up for either a free hosting account for limited bandwidth or a paid host for higher or unlimited bandwidth. Make sure you have FTP access to your hosting account so you can upload files to the server and that your server can run PHP. Either way, take note of your FTP user name and password before moving on.
Install an FTP program on your computer. Filezilla is the most popular free FTP program. It can be downloaded from Sourceforge.net. Follow the installation instructions for your computer. Make sure to download the right version for a Mac, Windows, or Linux computer.
Download PHProxy for free from Sourceforge. PHProxy is a free proxy server software package based in the PHP programming language. It is easy to install on any web server. Download the free installation package onto your desktop. You can test the software at phproxy.org.
Log in to your hosting account using Filezilla and navigate to your public_html directory. The public_html directory is where web pages are hosted on your server space. Choose one of your hosted domain folders and create a sub directory called '/proxy.' Doing so will install the program to yoursitename.com/proxy (replace yoursitename with your website's name).
Upload the entire PHProxy package into the /proxy folder on your server. Be sure to unzip the package and upload every file. Once the files are uploaded, use Filezilla to set the file permissions to 666, which will allow you to read the file from a web browser.
Go to yoursitename.com/proxy and you can use your proxy from any computer with Internet access. If you are concerned about other people using your proxy, you can change the directory name from /proxy.

How to Write a Proposal for a Music Concert

Obtain a concert proposal form from the music festival or venue you are applying to. Many have ready-made forms that detail exactly what information they're looking for.
Give the basic information such as the name of your act, the contact person and his or her contact information, and your website (if you have one). Note the dates you are available to perform.
Provide a short artist biography, including some of the band's or artist's musical achievements and previous concerts. This should be one or two paragraphs. You want to be descriptive, but relatively objective.
Describe your concert program. Include how many sets you want to play and how long the sets will be. For classical musicians, include which pieces you will be performing, who the composers are, and approximately how long the pieces will last.
Attach a sound file with a sample of the artist's music if the proposal will be submitted by email or online. If the proposal is submitted in hard copy, include a CD.
Describe your ideas for promotion, and mention how you currently promote yourself (Facebook, Twitter, etc.). If you already have promotional materials like posters or photos, you may include them.

How to Download and Use Website Templates (5 Steps)

Search for template sites online, looking for a template that suits your needs. If you're creating a website for a business such as real estate or accounting, you can find several templates with themes suited to those industries. If you're creating a personal website, find a design that suits your personality or the topics you'll be covering on your website. Note which platforms the templates are designed to work on. Some are for use with Adobe Dreamweaver, Microsoft FrontPage or WordPress. Note that Dreamweaver and FrontPage would need to be purchased if they didn't come with your computer. WordPress can be downloaded for free.
Download the template by clicking on the 'Download' button on the page where you found the template. If it isn't free, you will have to purchase it before you will have access to a download link.
Unzip the files after they've been downloaded onto your computer. Double-click on the Zip file, or right-click and select 'Unzip File'. You will be prompted to select a place to which to extract the files. Create a new folder on your computer with a name and location that you will remember.
Upload the files. Your website hosting provider may have an online file manager so you can transfer the files to their server. If not, you will need to download an FTP program. You can find various FTP programs for free online. Connect to your host using your username, password and FTP address. Contact your host for this information if you don't know it. Upload the template into the public_html folder if you can find this folder on your host's server. If you can't, contact your host and ask them for the appropriate place to upload the files.
Access your administration panel through your website platform. This could be WordPress, FrontPage, Dreamweaver or another program. You will generally need a username and password to access it. You can change the text and make some design adjustments if the template allows.
