How to Organize an Employee Appreciation Luncheon

Organize the luncheon in the break or conference room so employees can come and go if they need to take calls or complete other work-related tasks. However, consider holding it during a slow period so the staff will be able to enjoy themselves without neglecting their projects and duties. You can also host it at the end of a half day so they can stay as long as they'd like.
Let the staff vote on the type of food you'll serve. Choose a few local restaurants and pass around the menu of the 'winning' eatery so employees can order their favorite dishes. You can also have lunch catered by a local Italian, Chinese or Indian food establishment if you need to organize it quickly.
Give a short speech to thank the staff. Discuss the specific project or financial report that led you to hold the luncheon and single out any employees and managers that contributed the most leadership, staff support or innovative ideas. Also present a brief update on the company's current status, the climate of the industry and news of upcoming projects and contracts.
Take the opportunity to present annual merit awards or give recognition to staff members with the highest sales or customer satisfaction ratings, for example.
Plan activities like company trivia or a 'Who Am I' guessing game in which you list the lesser-known duties of a staff member to see who can figure it out first. Award small gift cards to local eateries or office supply stores to the winners.

How to Host a Jewelry Home Party

Collect the names of people you want to invite; they can be friends, relatives, neighbors and acquaintances or people who have been referred to you as possibly being interested in jewelry.
Send out invitations to the potential guests on your jewelry home party list. Let people know the date, time and place. Include a map if you think people will have trouble finding the location. Be sure to add an RSVP so you know how much food and drink to order. Send out the invitations at least two weeks before the event but three weeks is better. Send a reminder note or email or call about a week before the event.
Order any supplies you need for the party: your jewelry kit, catalogs, business cards and order forms. If your company provides a hostess gift and you are holding the party at someone else's house, order the gift at this time, too.
Buy food and drink a day or so before the event.
On the day of the party, set out the food and refreshments. Arrange the jewelry display and catalogs on tables in the room so people can see them as they mingle.
Encourage guests to eat some food and relax as they arrive. Give them a little time to get acclimated before you start the party.
Start the party with a game---a raffle, for example. This breaks the ice and offers people the chance to win something right away.
Present the hostess with her gift and encourage others to act as hostesses for your next party.
Go over the details of the jewelry display and pass the items around. Answer any questions. Pass out catalogs and order forms.
Collect people's money for their orders.
Follow up the party with a thank-you card to the hostess and the people who attended.
Notify people when their gifts come in, if the company ships all orders to you. Deliver them, if that's part of your business setup. Encourage people again to host a party when you deliver their merchandise.

How to Make a Hit Counter in Dreamweaver (19 Steps)

Navigate to your Web host's homepage and see if they offer free hit counters. If they don't, go to another Web host that does. Bravenet, for example, offers free hit counters and other Web tools even if you don't have a host account with them (see Resources).
Click the link to the hit counter tool. You may need to register with the Web host in order to download the code, but the registration should be free. If not, look elsewhere. Bravenet's hit counter is free.
Click the button to create a new hit counter. You will be prompted to enter a name for the counter and provide the URL of the page you want to add the counter to.
Choose settings and then the look for your counter.
Select (highlight) and copy the Javascript code the Web host puts on the screen for you.
Open Dreamweaver and open the Web page you want to add the hit counter to.
View the HTML code for your page by clicking the 'CODE' button at the top of the window, then click at the location where you want the counter to appear. Usually counters are placed at the bottom of the page above the closing 'BODY' tag.
Select 'Paste' from the Edit menu and the code for the hit counter will be inserted. Save changes, upload the page to your Web server and view it in your Web browser to test.

How to Conduct a Business Meeting in Japan (7 Steps)

When you meet your counterparts, bow. The Japanese do not shake hands, other than when Westerners would give each other a hug. They might make an exception for business meetings. Wait for the Japanese businessman to offer his hand. Introduce your colleagues by title and function as well as name.
Sit at the meeting table opposite from your hosts. Seat your delegation in reasonable order of rank. If you're the head of the delegation, take the best seat. In Japan, that is the one farthest from the door. If you are using an interpreter, make sure he or she (usually she) sits next to you.
Exchange business cards with all the other participants in the meeting. If you are head of the delegation, you will be expected to start. Do it like this: Face the person with whom you are exchanging cards. Hold your card with both hands. If you have Japanese cards, have the Japanese side up. Bow. Introduce yourself--say your name and your company. Thank the person for meeting with you. Hand over your business card. Listen carefully to the introduction by the person whose business card you are receiving. Take the card with both hands and look at it. Move on to the next person. Don't write on the cards and don't put them in your pocket, but keep them on the table in front of you.
Thank your hosts for agreeing to meet with you. Hand out your presentation material. Japanese businessmen usually appreciate if you send the material in advance, if possible.
Speak slowly and clearly (but do not exaggerate) in your presentation. By handing out material in advance, the Japanese can follow the presentation as you speak.
If you are using an interpreter, make make pauses to enable complete translation.
Tell your hosts that you can take questions during the presentation, if that is the case.
Don't be surprised if the Japanese do not say anything. They may not want to embarrass you with questions, or they might wait for their superior to ask questions first.

How to Start a Clothing Store With Only Four Thousand Dollars

Purchase a website domain, hosting service and shopping cart system that allows you to upload products. This will cost you about $100 plus about $15 per month for web hosting. Hire a web designer to create an attractive e-commerce website design for your new online clothing store. This will likely be one of your most expensive expenditures---expect to pay at least $500-$1,000 for a good web designer. (See 'Resources' below for a site where you can find more on hosting services.)
Apply for a merchant account that can be linked to your website to accept credit card payments from your customers. You can also open a P.O. box and list it on your website to accept check and money order sales from your customers. The initial fee to open a merchant account will be around $100. You will also pay a monthly service fee of about $20 to $30. A post office box will cost about $50 per year. (See 'Resources' for more on merchant accounts.)
Determine the type of clothes that you want to sell in your new clothing store. You can focus on a small niche (such as goth wear) or choose to offer a department-store type of selection for your customers, including men, women, juniors and children.
Next, find a clothing distributor who will drop ship individual orders to your customers (see 'Resources' below for a site where you can find these companies). This way you won't have to pay anything upfront--you only pay the distributor when you receive an order from the customer. You act as a middleman. So let's say you receive an order from your customer. You take the customer's money, then forward payment to the distributor, who will arrange to ship the clothing from the distributor warehouse directly to the customer's home. You might be charged a small initial fee to start this type of arrangement with the distributor. You can also use clothing that you have manufactured yourself, but the investment in clothing, sewing equipment or a manufacturer to make your clothes will likely cause you to exceed your initial budget of $4,000.
Once your website is designed, upload your chosen clothing pieces to your website. Categorize your products by type (for example, purses, shirts, jeans, dresses, elegant wear, men's and women's). The only investment here will be time, unless you choose to hire someone to take care of this task.
Publish your clothing store online. Your final investment will be in generating web traffic to your online clothing store. Hire an SEO marketing firm to take care of the content for your site to draw in hits from search engines. You can find good SEO help for about $500 to $1,000 per month. Place ads with Google Adwords, which will cost you $5 to set up. You will then set your budget for how much you want to spend each month for ads.
