How to Set Up an URL for a Web Page (5 Steps)

Purchase a domain name from a registrar. By purchasing a domain name, you will register it as your own and be able to control where the domain resides. There are many registrars available such as GoDaddy, Register.com, Enom, Network Solutions and Dream Host, to name a few. Many registrars also provide web hosting and vice versa. Domain names typically cost between $2.00 to $10.00. per year, as of 2010. '.com' is the most expensive; '.net,' .org,' and '.info' are progressively less expensive.
Open a shared hosting account with a web host. If your website becomes popular, you can upgrade to a VSP or dedicated server at any time. Depending on the registrar you purchase your domain from, you may be able to also host with them. Web hosts typically charge on per month basis and offer options for monthly and yearly payment options. Some of the web hosts available are GoDaddy, DreamHost, HostMonster and HostGator.
Redirect your domain's nameservers, also referred to as 'DNS,' to the IP address of your web host's nameservers. Your domain will have two nameservers, 'Nameserver 1' and 'Nameserver 2.' Your web host will provide you with an address for each nameserver. The addresses will look like, 'ns1.your-host.com' and 'ns2.your-host.com.' You will need to refer to your web host/registrar for the specific address and instructions on how to redirect your domain's nameservers.
Upload the files for your web pages. Log in to the cPanel on your hosting account and go to the 'File Manager.' Click on your domain name to be taken to the root folder for its directory. Upload the index.html file and other associated files for your website. You may also choose to use your host's script installer to install a website automatically for you, which will vary in procedure from host to host.
Wait at least 24 hours for the change to take effect. Once the redirection of the nameservers has completed, your domain name will now be the URL of your web page. For example, by typing 'http://your-domain-name.com' you will be taken to your web page.

How to Host Your Own Domain (5 Steps)

Download a Web server. This is usually necessary since Windows doesn't come with a default Web server. Apache is a good program, but you can also download ABYSS, which is a free program that you can download (see Resources).
Read the documentation that is included with ABYSS to familiarize yourself with the program. This is only necessary if you've never used ABYSS, or if you do not have Apache on your system.
Visit the No-IP website (see Resources). Set up an account while you are on this page. Choose the domain name you want to use.
Download the No-IP client. Click on the Windows operating system download. Download the program and then install it.
Fill in the information the program asks for. Make sure the program runs after installing it. Once all of your information is entered, your IP address will resolve to the domain you chose, which should be something like xxxxxx.hostnameofserver.com (where xxxxxx is the name you chose).

How to Make a Website for Arcade Games

Pick a web host service (see Resources). You can pay yearly for a service or choose a free service. The advantage to paying for a web host service is the amount of storage space you'll be provided. If you plan to use a lot of graphics and media files, they will take up a lot of space. Opt for the paid web hosting. Free services don't offer much space. Also, if you want to have advertising on your web site that brings money to you, opt to pay for web hosting. Free web hosting often includes advertising on your website that goes to the web hosting service.
Design your arcade game website. Since you're making an arcade game website, make it fun and flashy like a real arcade. Use colorful backgrounds and graphics. Don't be afraid to include animated graphics and blinking text. This will add to the arcade feel of your website and make it more attractive for arcade enthusiasts. Embed a free arcade sound file on your website for additional authentic arcade feel.
Use the built-in design and upload tools provided by your web host to develop your website and upload the files you'll need. Create an easy menu with simple game categories. Create a section of the website devoted to articles about the history of arcade games, tips on playing arcade games and reviews of arcade games. Devote the rest of the sections of the website to games. Include a section specifically devoted to early classic arcade games like 'Donkey Kong' and 'Pac-Man.'
Embed a wide variety of arcade-style games on your website. There are free resources for games you can easily embed on your website. You can easily embed these games in your website by copying and pasting the code to your web pages. The games are made using Adobe Flash, Shockwave and Java code. Include links to the Adobe Flash and Shockwave players on your web site in case you have visitors that need to download them before playing games on your arcade website.
Use Google Ads to generate income from your website. When you sign up for an Adsense account, Google places content relevant advertising on your website that generates money for you when visitors click on ads. It's free to start a Google Adsense account.

How to Set up a Business Server (5 Steps)

Install a Network Operating System (NOS). This can be Linux, MS 2000/2003 Server, etc. Approaching your business server hosting this way allows you to tailor settings to your business needs. You'll pay less and have more control over downtime and bandwidth usage. Bandwidth stays uninterrupted because it's a dedicated line and there's no question of your website being slowed down due to other websites receiving more traffic.
Install any necessary servers on the NOS, like email servers, domain servers, web server, database servers, etc. Recently, Microsoft developed two server solutions, Small Business Server 2008 and Windows Essential Business Server 2008. These are bundles and may be more efficient for your business server set up.
Install any web-based applications needed to run your website. Set up any other services you wish to run on your business server.
Create any network drives for your employees to be able to share files and keep files on the server. For an intranet, passwords and other security policies need to be applied.
Specifications for servers are equally important. To have a stable and reliable business server, it is always recommended to schedule regular backups of what is on your business server.

How to Create a Business Website With a Shopping Cart

Register your domain name. You may register your domain name through various sites like Yahoo, Godaddy and many more. Choose a name that represents your company but is easy and short enough for customers to remember. You may also purchase multiple domain names that navigate back to one site. This is a great tool to help customers find your site when they are unsure of the actual address. For example, btob.com may want to also purchase backtobusiness.com.
Choose your hosting plan. Hosting is what makes your website accessible via World Wide Web. Basically, you are renting web space. Several website-hosting plans are available depending on the amount of information you want to display on your website. Choose a hosting plan that supports website shopping carts.
Select a website template. Search for ecommerce website templates and select a template that best represents your business. Templates Box has been providing professional website templates since 2002. Once you purchase a template, you will have the option to have your site customized or you can choose to do it yourself. Having your site customized will cost extra money.
Customize your website. Enter your business content and set up your shopping cart. When using a template, simply upload the items you wish to sell and price your items accordingly. You will have the option to link your shopping cart to a PayPal or credit-card account.
Upload your completed website to your hosting server.

How to Embed Audio in HTML

Choose an audio file. You can use an mp3 or .wav file. If you do not have an audio file, make one using any one of the freeware or shareware programs available on the Web.
Upload the audio file to your webserver. Select the file to play on your website and make sure it is in the same directory as your website. To play an audio file on a blog that is hosted on a different server, upload the audio file to a free Web hosting company.
Embed the audio file. Copy and paste the following code onto your website:
Replace the 'myaudio.mp3' with the name of your audio file. Keep the quotation marks. This not only embeds the audio, but also creates a player that allows you to turn the audio on and off.
Embed the audio file onto your blog. Change the file name in the code to the complete URL where the audio file is located. For example, using the following:
Change the name of 'myaudio.mp3' to the full URL address where your mp3 is located. The embed code will create a music player.
Adjust volume, height and width settings to match your blog or website. A width setting of '144' is recommended.

How to Start a Cell Phone Affiliate Site (9 Steps)

Buy a domain name and hosting for your cell phone affiliate site if you don't already have these in place. Think of a domain name that will indicate that your site is related to the cell phone or wireless technology industry. Look for a Web host that includes Fantastico or a similar control panel that gives you the ability to upload scripts and programs with one click. Purchase a basic $7 to $15 monthly hosting hosting service because this is all you will need for a cell phone affiliate website. Web hosting services include HostGator, GoDaddy and FatCow.
Upload a content management system (CMS) program to your website through your hosting control panel. Content management systems such as Wordpress, Joomla and Drupal make creating a website easy and intuitive for the end-user. Look for and install a premium theme or template on your site for your CMS. TemplateMonster, Woo Themes and ThemeForest all contain premium CMS themes that can be used for your cell phone affiliate site.
Modify the CMS theme through your administrative or control panel. Give your website a catchy name related to the cell phone industry and place this name in the header of your site. Modify color schemes and other page elements of your site to match your technology theme.
Start your website by adding content related to the cell phone and/or technology industry. Review trusted technology magazine websites such as PCMag.com and SmartphoneMag.com to find out the latest news in the technology and cell phone industries. Make a couple blog posts on your site or create separate pages devoted to the latest cell phone products, consumer deals within the industry or related news. Each program is different, but some cell phone affiliate programs may prefer affiliates who have sites related to the industry.

How to Make Custom Buttons for a Blogger

Choose an image for the blog button. For an email contact button, an envelope image works. For a business related blog using their logo along with the text, 'contact us' is optimal. Consider the color of the blog's background so the button will not blend in and the image stands out. Upload the image into a photo editing program, such as Infranview or Photoshop.
Resize the image to 125 pixels X 125 pixels. Upload the new size of the image to a photo hosting website, such as Flickr or Photobucket. Right click the image and copy the location address for the image. Paste the location address in a document to save it.
Use this HTML code to put the button together: . For an email contact button, place 'mailto:' followed by a complete email address in between the first set of quotes in the HTML code. The code should look like this
after inserting the email address. For a link button, place the complete web address in between the first set of quotes, such as http://www.yourbusinesswebsite.com '>.
Add the image properties to the HTML code. Paste the image properties in between the second set of quotes. The HTML code now looks like this: http://img1.photohostingsite.com/img00/1111/yourbutton.jpg'/></a>. The numbers and other information in an image properties are different for each hosted photo, so your information will differ from the properties shown here.
Copy and paste the completed code into the layout of a blog. Place an asterisk at the end of the code, if sending the button via email to a friend or client, to prevent the code from converting into the button. Add a note to the email recipient to remove the asterisk before pasting into a blog.

How to Create an HTML Input Box and Output to Another Page

Open the HTML source code page into which you desire to place the form containing a 'textarea' input box. In this example, you will be using 'sometext.html' as the HTML source page. The separate page with PHP code will be called 'displaysometext.php.' Both pages will be stored on the Web hosting server where your website is located.
Create the form section within the HTML source code, and tell the form that the data entered by the user will be submitted to the external PHP-enabled page. In the case of this example, the user data will be submitted to displaysometext.php. Enter the following line between the
and the
tags of the HTML page.Save the document to your computer as sometext.html and upload it to your Web hosting server.
Open a new page in your text editor and enter the following six lines of text.
Display Some Text PHP Script Page
?>
Save the page as displaysometext.php
Enter the following lines between the '
' lines that tells PHP to accept the text from the input box of the origination page. Remember that the name of the submit operation was 'comment.' When the user submits the form, that label will be submitted as the identifier for the text the user entered. The lines to accept this information should appear as follows.if(isset($_POST['submit'])){
$usercomments = $_POST['comment'];'
Have your PHP script do something with the text the user entered. This can be something as simple as printing to the Web browser what the user entered on the original page. In this example, type the following three lines.echo 'The information you entered was as follows:';
echo $usercomments;
}
Save the 'displaysometext.php' page code to your computer, then upload it into the same directory of the Web hosting server that contains HTML page containing the input box.
Point your browser to the HTML page that accepts the user input. That page, in this example, would be 'sometext.html'. Enter some text into the input box, then click the 'Submit Comments' button below it. Note that the small PHP code snippet in the 'displaysometext.php' page processes and displays everything you entered on a new Web page.

How to Uninstall Drupal

Open an FTP connection with your Web server. Almost all Web hosts offer this type of file directory access through a FTP browsing application. This application will allow you to connect to your website's files with a user-created password and sub-domain connection path, such as 'ftp.yourwebsite.com,' for example.
Find the folder in your website directory where you created the Drupal installation.
Delete this entire folder by selecting it in the file browser and choosing 'Delete' from within your FTP application. This will remove all of the Drupal administration functions and all of the files associated with your Drupal-based website.
Open your Web browser and navigate to your website hosting control panel. This is usually found through your Web hosting provider's user area.
Find your database control area, and open it to get access to all of your databases.
Remove the database you created for Drupal when you first installed it. Drupal should be fully removed from your website.
