How to Plan Family Meetings (9 Steps)


Set a time that works for everyone involved. A Sunday evening before the beginning of the new week is one possibility. Families normally have meetings each week or every other week. Family meetings shouldn’t run longer than about 45 minutes. Choose a comfortable location for the meetings such as the dining or living room. It’s a good idea to have family meetings in the same location each week, but don’t shy away from picking a fun location away from home if you’ve had a tense week. A pizza place or ice cream parlor are easy, fun locations.
Plan the agenda for your meeting and keep it consistent. It might include sharing and coordinating schedules, complimenting each other, discussing and solving problems, a fun activity and information on the next family meeting.
Design and post a chart showing the agenda ahead of time so everyone knows what to expect. Keep the chart up as a reminder.
Discuss and write down rules before the meeting. Possible rules include everyone gets a chance to talk, no interrupting and no putting others down. At the first meeting you might also explain using “I” rather than “You” statements to avoid blaming others. For example, “I feel frustrated when you do x, y, z,” is better than saying, “You make me frustrated when you do x, y, z.”
Designate a leader for the first couple meetings, ideally a responsible adult family member. After that, it’s important to rotate the role so everyone feels they're involved. Adults can help younger family members who aren’t quite ready to lead on their own. Other roles you might consider are a secretary to keep notes and a time keeper to make sure the meetings run on time.
Plan activities to help younger children share their ideas. They might draw a picture of what they want to do or give something special to someone as a compliment.
Gather supplies for the meeting. A family calendar where you can make notes of weekly activities and family meetings, a list of activities, paper and a pen are all supplies to have handy.
Plan a fun activity for after the family meeting. This ensures the meeting ends on a good note and encourages more bonding.

State the request and the purpose of the dinner in your first line. For example, 'James and Natalie invite you to join them for dinner to celebrate their first wedding anniversary.' Install DJ software. You will need a program that allows you to stream audio files over the Internet. There are several programs on the market. SAM Broadcaster is a popular program for professional online deejays, but costs around $300. WinAmp is free and adequate for dee-jaying on Second Life. Download and install WinAmp and the free Shoutcast DSP plugin.
Get an audio server account. An audio server or streamcast host is the place your music stream is sent to online, where your listeners will tune-in to hear your mix. Virtual Life and Shoutcast are popular audio server options, but streamcast hosting is not free and, depending on the host and the hosting package, may run you several hundred dollars a year.
Create a music library. Download songs you want to use in your streamcast. Create several playlists using the DJ software on your computers. If you do not hold the rights to your playlists, you may have to get additional permission or license to broadcast.

You will need this information to connect your stream to the audio server. The listening address is made up of two parts, the audio server address and the port number. Open up Second Life and click on the land parcel name where you will be dee-jaying. Click on 'World' then 'About Land', Click on the 'Media' tab and insert the audio server address. Listener can access your broadcast in the game by clicking on the 'Play Streaming Music' button.

How to Uninstall a BIND in YUM


Log into your Linux system and open a new terminal window. Each Linux distribution stores this shortcut in a different place. Check your system's documentation if you do not know where to locate it.
Type 'sudo yum remove bind' without quotation marks, then press 'Enter.'
Type your system's root password when prompted, then press 'Enter.'
Press 'Y' when asked to confirm the package removal. Bind will be stopped and uninstalled from your system.

How to Throw a casual wine tasting party (10 Steps)


Plan the date so that you can have 6-8 guests. Ask each couple or person to bring an appetizer and one bottle of wine in a paper bag (have bag available for those that did not remember.)
Ask your guests to arrive promptly at a specific time so you can begin eating and wine tasting at the same time. Fashionably late doesn't work for this party!
Specify a maximum price range on the wine. It's up to each person if they want to try and 'fool' everyone with a cheap wine, or give them a taste of an expensive one. If possible, decide ahead of time whether to taste whites or reds.
When guests arrive, the host should remove the cork and place the bottle in a paper bag if they did not arrive that way. Once all wine has arrived, in random order, write a number each bag. Place a rubber band around the top, or tie a ribbon around the neck of the bottle to keep the bag from falling off.
Have paper and pencils ready for your guests with a chart already drawn. Have numbers down the side and ratings across the top, leave room for comments on the right side. This will be used to rate the wines. You can even have a column to guess the price!
Start by having everyone fill a plate with food and start to enjoy the appetizers. Provide everyone with a wine glass and pour a small amount of the same bottle into each glass. You don't have to empty the bottle, leave some so when the 'tasting' is over, those that like the various wines can have a bit more.
Encourage conversation about the wine, how does it taste? Can people tell if it's a Merlot or Cabernet? What's the value? You don't have to be a wine enthusiast with all the right words to have fun at this party. Keep it simple. Have them rate it on a scale of 1 to 5 with five being the best.
Even though you are eating a variety of foods, and some wine tastes better than others with different flavors - this is for fun - not for the professional wine tasters.
Compare and have fun! Repeat with the remaining bottles of wine, just a few sips for every person out of each bottle is enough.
When done, tally up the scores and see who is the winner! Was it the $5 bottle of the $20 bottle? Who wants more?

How to Plan a Graduation Open House


First you need to determine where you will hold the graduation open house. Consider that the weather may not be in your favor and you will want an indoor plan if the weather indeed ends up being poor.
Set the date and time. This may also play a role in the location you have chosen. Typically open houses are held on a Saturday or Sunday. Shoot for early afternoon so guest have plenty of time to get there and plenty of time left in their evening.
Once you have a location and date chosen, you will want to get to work on your invitations. Make a list of the guests you want to attend. This list will be important later as well so hold on to it. Get suggestions from your graduate on whom they would like to invite. Next to each family you will send and invite to, make a note of how many people may come in that group.
Make your own invitations to save money. Open house invites can be printed on a one page card. Use a fancier font and center it. Include the graduate the time and place of the open house. Use a separate sheet to include a map if needed. Your invite could read something like this

Invitations should be sent out 6-4 weeks prior to the date of the open house to ensure your guest have plenty of notice.
Next you will want to plan what food and beverage you will be serving. Finger foods work best for an open house, especially if there will not be enough table settings for everyone to sit down to eat. Take your guest list that you made for your invitations and count the number of possible guest that could attend. Plan that 20% may not show. Make a list of food and paper products you will need. Begin watching for your food items to go on sale or look for the best place to get your perishable items at the best price when it is time to purchase them. Plan to prepare enough servings for your guest based on 80% of how many you invited. A graduation cake is a tradition. You may want to begin to shop around or recruit someone to make a cake for you. Also plan on what you will need for serving trays of serving bowls. Begin to ask family and friends if you can borrow theirs if you do not have enough.
Once you have the location set and the menu planned, you will want to consider the set up of the location. Will you need to rent or borrow seating? If you are doing it at your home, you will want to make a list of things that need to be done or taken care of prior to the open house. Remove unneeded furniture or items you would not want broke.
Keep decorations simple. Maybe a few balloons. Make a display of your graduate and their accomplishments in school. This could include sport awards or academic achievements. Guest love to see pictures and you could use a recent year book. Their diploma is also a nice touch and use their graduation cap and tassel on your display. You could also include what the graduate plans to do with their future.
Plan for a gift and card area. Your graduate will not be able to open these as they come. Money is a very typical gift to give to graduate, so be sure you have someone in charge of supervising the cards and gifts as they come in.
Recruit a family member or friend to help with refilling food trays and gathering trash as it needs it. Guests want to be social, so make yourself available to socialize back.
Plan ahead your clean up and who might be available to help put the location you choose back the way it was.

Articulate why you are launching a lunch-and-learn program, clarifying who you will be addressing and what benefits you hope to impart. For example, “Teach staff how to better handle stress” or “Show architects the benefits of using our pavers.” Recruit the help of a few good people to coordinate your event’s details and share your mission with them.
